Dog 'N' Bone Hotline for Hotel Pets - Exec Digital

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - July 6, 2012) - BRITAIN'S biggest group of independent hotels has installed a dedicated Pet Hotline after an unprecedented rise in the number of guests booking rooms for them and their pets during their staycations.

Best Western, which has won awards for its pet-friendly status, has launched Britain's first Dog 'n' Bone hotline following a massive increase of 900% YOY in enquiries for guests staying at their hotels with their pets. Former Crufts Champion, Millie, a 13 year old West Highland terrier who has experienced a lot of travelling with her owner, launched the Dog and Bone today at Best Western head office.

The initiative means that pet owners can now call a dedicated central telephone number if they want to book a stay at one of Best Western's 112 officially designated 'pet-friendly hotels'. They can speak to a pet advisor who will let them know which is the best hotel for their needs and how it caters for their pet.

But it's not just dog who will benefit from the hotline. The hotel group has previously had a request for a skunk to stay at a hotel with its owner, as well as other unusual pets including ferrets, tortoises, pigs and parrots.

With staycations still popular and more and more people looking to holiday in Britain, pet owners have long been searching for a solution to the dilemma of what to do with their animals while they are away. Kennels can cost up to ?160 per week and some pet owners would prefer another option for their pampered pooches.

According to the latest statistics from Google, searches for pet friendly hotels in the UK have increased 50% across the board in the past 24 months, showing the huge trend for owners not wanting to make the heartbreaking decision of leaving their pet behind and receiving a huge bill at the end of their holiday.

Best Western director of marketing, Tim Wade said: "An increasing number of people are staying at home and taking staycation holidays and looking for destinations where they can take their pets with them.

"This, on the back of a huge 900% increase in enquiries for pet-and-owner rooms at our hotels, means we are providing a service which there is clearly a large call for.

"The Pet Hotline is the obvious next step. We are able to easily match guests and their pets with a suitable hotel in the location where they wish to stay. It's the first of its kind in Britain.

"Our award-winning pet friendly hotels have rooms specifically for guests with pets. Selected hotels in the group have even designated specific sections and buildings as 'canine corridors' to ensure that everyone can enjoy their dogs without imposing them on those who are less keen."

Just like humans, pets want variety too, which is why each pet friendly hotel offers something different. The list of items on offer include pet friendly rooms with direct or nearby access to the hotel garden, special beds, windows with nice views, food bowls in the rooms and even a personalised letter from the chef advising on today's specials board, all among its pet-friendly services.
