WiFi Profile Manager 8 Sets Your Preferred Networks in Windows 8

By Whitson Gordon

Ever run into a situation where you have multiple wireless networks available, but one is clearly better than the other? WiFi Profile Manager 8 lets you tell your computer which networks are better, so Windows doesn?t automatically stick you with the wrong one.

Windows 7 (and every other OS out there) let you tweak these settings from the ?Manage Wireless Networks? section of the Control Panel, but for some unknown reason the option?s been removed in Windows 8. Instead, Windows 8?tries to learn your behavior, which is nice, but a little confusing?and it doesn?t give you the easy control you might want.

WiFi Profile Manager is a simple solution. Just start it up, click on a network, and the right-click it to move it around in the list (or get rid of it entirely). It?s completely portable, so you don?t need to install anything either.

WiFi Profile Manager 8 is a free download for Windows only.
