Hi everyone, I've just written this code for an assignment but I missed out a bit where the string to be entered needs to be of a defined size so you can only enter a certain amount of letters and numbers. I tried setting different constants for variables which the string uses like SIZE and letters but it didn't work does anyone have any suggestions?Here is my code:
#include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <ctype.h> void ReadLetters(char letters[], int SIZE) { printf("Please enter a string of 64 letters and numbers to be counted: "); fgets(letters,SIZE,stdin); letters[strlen(letters) - 1] = '\0'; } void Count(char letters[], int counter[]) { int i; for(i = 0; i<=strlen(letters); i++) { if(isalpha(letters[i])) { letters[i] = tolower(letters[i]); counter[letters[i] - 'a']++; } else { counter[26]++; } } counter[26] = counter[26] - 1; } void PrintAll(int counter[]) { int i; for(i = 0; i <26;i++) { counter[i]; if(counter[i]>0) { printf("\n%c's - %d", (char) (i + 97), counter[i]); } } printf("\nThe amount of non letters is: %d", counter[26]); } int main() { const int SIZE = 64; char letters[64] = {0}; int counter[27] = {0}; ReadLetters(letters,SIZE); Count(letters,counter); PrintAll(counter); return(0); }
