] is facing backlash from some of her more devout Christian followers after sharing a photo that contained a quote from physicist Lawrence Krauss.
"You are all stardust," read the quote. "You couldn't be here if stars hadn't exploded, because the elements (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, all the things that matter for evolution) weren't created at the beginning of time."
"They were created in stars. So forget Jesus. Stars died so you can live."
A handful of fans of the singer-actress bemoaned the apparent loss of Cyrus religion while others simply told her to "go to hell."
"How can people take the love out of science and bring hate into religion so easily?," Cyrus asked.
She then followed up with a quote from another physicist, Albert Einstein.
"Science without religion is lame," she said. "Religion without science is blind."
